Trevor Chan is pursuing a joint Honours degree in Mathematics and Music at the University of Toronto, where he studies cello under the tutelage of Professor Shauna Rolston. He formerly studied with Professor Ray Wang and Ms. Xu Ting through the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) Junior Programme. Trevor has also studied with Benedict Kloeckner, David Cohen, Enrico Bronzi, and Troels Svane . Additionally, Trevor has benefited from masterclass and mentorship guidance from distinguished cellists, including Csaba Onczay, Edgar Moreau , Giovanni Gnocchi, Gustav Rivinius, Mario Brunello, and Troels Svane.
A multi-prize winner, Trevor has claimed first, second, and third prizes across various categories at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, and was honoured with the ESF Chairman's Award for Creativity for his musical achievements. As a soloist, he performed at the 2023 HKAPA Cello Festival and has been to Verao Classico and Sommerakademie Cervo.
An active ensemble musician, Trevor’s orchestral experience includes performances with the Greater Bay Area Youth Orchestra, the U of T Symphony Orchestra, and the HKAPA Junior Symphony Orchestra. He is also a founding member of the Cantilena Trio, alongside two fellow University of Toronto students.
Trevor Chan plays on a 1876 Collin-Mézin I and his bow was made by Emilio Slaviero.

Trevor's teaching experience spans both mathematics and music. He has served as a teaching assistant for an IGCSE Advanced Mathematics class at ESF Island School and has tutored younger students through a high school tutoring program, supporting students who needed help rebuilding confidence and foundational understanding.
In music, Trevor teaches cello with attention to both technical foundation and musical expression. His cello teaching covers posture, sound production, bow control, left-hand technique, repertoire, interpretation, and practice strategies. He has experience working with students from beginner levels to more advanced, conservatory-preparatory contexts, including focused technical coaching on right-arm and bow technique.
